The
company now known as Excelsior Monuments Inc was established in1881
by the Rigg family, named Rigg Memorial and held for three generations
then sold by William Rigg. It was located at 163 Pitt St. Windsor & named
Excelsior Granite & Marble Works and briefly owned by a couple
proprietors then moved to
Tecumseh,
Ontario in 1963.
Don Lappan senior (former Mayor of the Town of Tecumseh) purchased it to learn the trade in 1973 and
worked to improve the company’s quality and reputation. Today it remains
in the Lappan family with three children, Don, Jeanette & William carrying on with their
father’s ideals as they grew to learn the timely skills of stone carving
and engraving to produce the highest quality monuments in Essex County. We
are members of OMBA
(Ontario Monument Builders Association) and
CFIB (Canadian Federation
of Independent Business)
As we continue to improve the love of our labour we stand behind our
memorial products with pride in knowing we do the job right the first
time and have grown through recommendations from our clientele.
Please contact us if we can
be of any service to you,
or just to answer questions that you may have.
